Nominations open for Environmental Finance annual awards
London, 21 May: Environmental Finance is soliciting nominations for its annual awards – which aim to recognise excellence in applying capital markets know-how to solving the world’s environmental problems.

The categories are: Environmental Finance IPO of the Year; Renewable Energy Financing of the Year, Carbon Finance Transaction of the Year; Weather Risk Management Transaction of the Year; Catastrophe Risk Management Transaction of the Year; and the Environmental Finance Personality of the Year.

Transactions must have closed between 1 June 2008 and 31 May 2009, and the awards will be judged by the Environmental Finance editorial team, with the support of a panel of market experts.

Companies and individuals are welcome to nominate themselves, their colleagues or the companies that they work for. Nominations are open until 12 June.
Last year’s winners were:

Environmental Finance Personality of the Year – David Blood, Generation Investment Management

Environmental Finance IPO of the Year – Hansen Transmissions International

Renewable Energy Financing of the Year – Airtricity sale to E.ON and SSE

Carbon Finance Transaction of the Year – Ulu Masen avoided deforestation carbon financing

Weather Risk Management Transaction of the Year – itravel2000 winter promotion

The results will be featured in the July-August issue of Environmental Finance.
