Sustainable Investment Awards 2026

Private equity fund of the year: Trill Impact

It was an ability to evolve that won the Stockholm-based European private markets firm Trill Impact the Sustainable Investment Award for Private equity fund of the year, with the judges praising the firm's "solid execution", describing its approach as "evolutionary rather than revolutionary".

One of the firm's core competencies lies in its buyout strategy, which targets companies that address environmental and social challenges through products and services. Trill Impact said that its investment approach occurs along the themes of sustainable planet, healthy people, and resilient society. Within these, it says it integrates relevant megatrends through a sector-agnostic approach.

As part of its work, Trill Impact said that it performs ESG due diligence, in-depth screening, and gap analysis through eight dimensions: business ethics, data security and privacy, employee engagement, employee health and safety, environmental management and GHG emissions, product quality and safety, and supply chain management.

All of its buyout portfolio companies set GHG emissions targets, with six of nine in 2025 meeting their absolute Scope 1-2 targets. It also said that several portfolio companies have increased the accuracy of their Scope 3 reporting through methods such as collecting supplier-specific emission factors and working with suppliers on locating Environmental Product Declarations and Life Cycle Assessments for key products.
