What data do you provide?
Early-stage desktop screening tool and data services for biodiversity risk and opportunities screening. Described by our users as “a must for any project on biodiversity conservation”, IBAT provides authoritative geographic information about global biodiversity. IBAT users can access the World Database on Protected Areas, IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and the World Database of Key Bio-diversity Areas through our data download services. The data is packaged as either global downloads or it is also possible to select smaller areas to download. We also offer web services/APIs.
Where and how do you source your data?
Our data is actively managed and updated on a monthly basis by the IBAT Alliance organisations: UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre, International Union for the Conservation of Nature, BirdLife International, and Conservation International. This ensures that users are accessing the best and most up-to-date global data. Data is collected from our staff, international biodiversity experts, international convention secretariats, governments, and collaborating NGOs.
Who are the data users?
Our users range from financial institutions such as World Bank, IFC, Inter-American Development Bank to energy companies such as Shell, Total, BP to international NGOs such as The Rainforest Trust.
What is the cost for your data offering?
Ranges from free up to $35,000 per annum depending on the data services needed.
