What data do you provide?
Global Forest Watch Pro (GFW Pro) is an online management application to support reducing deforestation in commodity supply chains. GFW Pro delivers critical decision-making analysis at the property, supply shed and portfolio levels. The application is built upon best-in-class, timely data from the Global Forest Watch Partnership and World Resources Institute’s scientific research.
Where and how do you source your data?
GFW Pro is a GFW application. GFW is committed to providing the highest-quality data on the world’s forests that is currently available. All of the data provided on GFW have been assessed with respect to several indicators of quality, including timeliness, accuracy, completeness, geographic coverage, innovation, and objectivity.
Data on Global Forest Watch come from a variety of sources, including governments, NGOs, academia, and industry. To acquire new data, GFW:
- Researches and incorporates publicly available open data
- Forms partnerships to move data into the public domain
- Funds the creation of data sets to fill key gaps
- Applies cutting-edge science and technology to produce new data (e.g. FORMA alerts)
Who are the data users?
GFW Pro allows companies and financial institutions to detect deforestation in their supply chain or investment portfolio. The platform empowers users, from commodity field officers to financial Chief Risk Officers, to manage and monitor changes in deforestation risk.
What is the cost for your data offering?
