What data do you provide?

PREPdata is a map-based, open data online platform that allows users to access and visualize spatial data reflecting past and future climate, as well as the physical and socio-economic landscape for climate adaptation and resilience planning. It is a flexible tool for climate adaptation planning, designed to address many of the gaps and challenges adaptation practitioners face. The platform’s wide-ranging datasets include temperature, precipitation, drought and flood risk, social vulnerability, coastal energy facilities, landslides, sea level rise, global urban heat island effect, reservoirs and dams, global cropland extent and more.

Where and how do you source your data?

PREP partners engage in active curation of data sets focused on climate resilience, streamlining the process of accessing and navigating to relevant data. Sources include National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), United States Geological Survey (USGS), European Space Agency (ESA), and more. The platform is continuing to evolve through the input of PREP partners and PREPdata users.

Who are the data users?

PREPdata was designed to meet the evolving needs of the climate adaptation planning community and businesses, to help them better plan for and build climate resilience. PREP has begun working with partners at city, state, and national scales across the globe to put the platform to use in support of efforts to prepare for climate change.

What is the cost for your data offering?

No cost. PREPdata is a free, open-source data platform.
