Data category

  • Environmental data
  • Governance data

What data do you provide?

CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.

The 2018 CDP Forests dataset contains comprehensive data from nearly 200 companies publicly disclosing on the management of risk related to producing and/or sourcing deforestation-linked commodities including palm oil, timber, soy and cattle products. It includes disclosures on financial impact of those risks, and business opportunities linked to sourcing and producing sustainable goods. It covers policies and commitments to source deforestation-free and actions taken to implement those commitments; as well as governance and strategy of deforestation at the corporate level; engagements with supply chain partners; and efforts to positively influence the market for deforestation-free commodity supply chains.

Where and how do you source your data?

On behalf of its 525 investors representing $96 trillion in assets, as well as 17 purchasing companies, CDP requests data from companies around the world on their environmental performance via its forests questionnaire. This information is entirely self-reported from companies in more than 50 countries with deforestation risk. CDP provides questionnaire guidance to companies to ensure uniform responses for a comparable dataset.

Who are the data users?

Investors, corporates, and policy makers use CDP data and insights to make better decisions, manage risk, and capitalize on opportunities. Key users of CDP data in the financial community include asset managers, pension funds, data providers, and more.
