What data do you provide?
CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.
CDP provides the market with 10 years of standardized corporate water data, with the 2018 Water Security dataset containing information from more than 800 public company responses. This includes volumetric data (withdrawals, discharge, consumption), water-related compliance issues and detrimental impacts, water-related risk exposure and procedures to manage it, financial information on value potentially affected, internal governance and opportunities, water implications of climate scenario analysis, and details on water-related targets and goals. CDP Water data is unique among our corporate data set in that it contains location-specific information, including river basins and latitude/longitude for facility-specific water accounting.
Where and how do you source your data?
On behalf of its 525 investors representing $96 trillion in assets, as well as 45 purchasing companies with a combined annual spend of $2 trillion, CDP requests data from companies around the world on their environmental performance via its water security questionnaire. This information is entirely self-reported from companies in more than 110 countries. CDP provides questionnaire guidance to companies to ensure uniform responses for a comparable dataset.
Who are the data users?
Investors, corporates, and policy makers use CDP data and insights to make better decisions, manage risk, and capitalize on opportunities. Key users of CDP data in the financial community include asset managers, pension funds, data providers, and more.
