What data do you provide?

The ET Emissions Dataset comprises 4,500+ directly analysed global companies in 2018 and provides annual figures from 2009 to 2018, covering major global indices. It incorporates disclosed and inferred emissions intensity data for 30,000+ securities. Intensities are inferred where not reported and where companies are not directly analysed by ET. For companies not currently analysed ET offers a Bespoke Data Collection service.

ET offers a variety of proprietary indices. Listed companies are ranked on emissions intensity and feed into universe selection for strategies. An algorithmic weighting scheme is defined for the selected stocks to calculate the final strategy/index value. These indices can be used as proxies for carbon-related investments or can be done on a bespoke basis.

Where and how do you source your data?

ET Emissions Dataset includes information on the completeness of the data publicly reported by companies, whether it has been third-party assured, as well as statistical analysis and estimation models for non-disclosing companies. All reported intensities in the ET Emissions Dataset undergo a robust outlier detection and treatment process.

Each company selected for inclusion is independently analysed by two different analysts, to avoid selection and sampling bias. The submissions are then independently reviewed by ET’s Quality Assurance experts, led by a Senior Analyst and GHG Reporting Expert. Corporates that are directly analysed are contacted at the end of the data collection process to verify findings.
