Where and how do you source your data?
Underlying data for the calculated portfolio ESG, Product Involvement and Carbon metrics comes from Sustainalytics, one of the world’s largest independent provider of ESG and Corporate Governance research, analysis and support services. Their research team of over 230 analysts conducts a comprehensive review of all companies within the research universe, typically following each company’s reporting cycle. The data assessed is compiled from both publicly available data (Annual/Quarterly company reports, Sustainability Reports, Company Websites, etc.) and data owned by third parties. In the case of any new controversial events or updates to existing events, our analysts review the Controversy aspects of the research – this is published on a fortnightly basis. In case of a major Controversy, Sustainalytics aims to update Controversy assessments within 24-48 hours. The Controversy research process is based on a daily screen of over 60,000 news and media source, specialized publications and non-government organizations.
Sustainable Attributes data is collected and sourced on publicly traded strategies based on a data analyst review of the prospectus or offering documents most relevant in the strategy’s country of registration. Other filings, such as Statements of Additional Information, may be considered upon request, as well as marketing materials and websites in certain regions, or external investment guidelines if they are cited in offering documents. Investments that are prohibited by national laws will also be marked in our exclusionary framework.
