Brief description of the data offering
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) mobilizes companies to set science-based targets and boost their competitive advantage in the transition to the low-carbon economy. The initiative is a collaboration of the CDP, WRI, WWF, and UNGC. Setting a science-based target is the best way for companies to ensure that their goals are in line with what the latest science says is needed to prevent the worst impacts of climate change. The SBTi provides a list of companies and financial institutions that have made commitments to set science-based targets to reduce their GHG emissions. We also provide a list of companies that have had their science-based targets validated by the initiative based on our target validation criteria.
Where and how do you source your data?
Companies submit to the SBTi a formal commitment letter that commits the company to set science-based targets following our criteria within 24 months. When the company is ready to have their targets validated, they are submitted to the SBTi using our target validation form which is reviewed by our target validation team. Approved targets are posted on the SBTi website.
Who are the data users?
