What data do you provide?
Carbon Delta is an award-winning Zurich-based data analytics firm that conducts comprehensive assessments of climate change risks and opportunities embedded within investment portfolios. The firm has developed a fully automated and forward-looking financial climate risk metric called “Climate Value-at-Risk®” (CVaR) that incorporates 9 transition scenarios and two physical climate scenarios across the following asset classes: equities, fixed income and real estate. The methodology is closely aligned with the TCFD recommendations. The analysis covers 22 000 publicly traded companies and computes physical risks for 7 extreme weather events such as flooding and tropical cyclones. Also provided is a warming potential metric that verifies 2°C scenario alignment in addition to an analysis of low carbon innovation through their technology opportunity patent analysis.
Where and how do you source your data?
Carbon Delta is committed to using the best quality and independent data to estimate GHG emissions for the companies we cover. We have longstanding relationships with world-renowned climate change research institutes, academics, and non-profits. Our estimates are based on IEA and UNFCCC 3rd party verified datasets of country/sector level emissions as opposed to self-reported emissions data used in conventional carbon footprinting approaches.
Our physical risk model uses data inputs from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research such as the REMIND model which is used to calculate regional carbon prices. We also have access to databases of 65 million patents with more than 400 low carbon patent categories and a locations database comprised of 600,000 company facilities worldwide.
Who are the data users?
Carbon Delta’s main clients are financial institutions; asset owners such as pension funds, and asset managers. However, the “Climate Value-at-Risk” metric is highly scalable and we foresee far wider applications.
What is the cost for your data offering?
Our costs are based on the number of users, number of securities and number of portfolios. Please contact Carbon Delta for more information with your requirements.
