Mexican housebuilder Vinte issues an MXN200 million ($25 million) to build 1,208 green homes for low- and mid-income families across nine Mexican cities.
The houses will be certified through the International Finance Corporation's (IFC) Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE). This will result in saving 52,000 cubic metres of water and 785 tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per year as well as 20% energy savings per house.
This is Vinte's sixth sustainability bond and it will also create 340 temporary jobs during construction of the project.
"I deeply appreciate that Vinte has been doing this for quite a while and they keep coming back to the market," commented one Sustainable Debt Awards judge. "That they have deep green goals along with their social goals is great. That Vinte received a favourable opinion from Sustainalytics is a very big deal in my mind."
