IMPACT Investment Awards 2025

Endowment/foundation of the year: Mirova Foundation

Bridging the volunteer and business sectors, Mirova Foundation has focused its efforts in the past year on biodiversity, climate and inclusion. This includes committing 'significant' resources to support organisations focused on ocean conservation, renewable energy and biodiversity preservation, for example.

The endowment fund commits multi-year grant commitments ranging from €100,000-€450,000 ($115,400 – $519,000) to scale 'critical' start-ups addressing 'clearly defined challenges'.

Since April 2024, Mirova Foundation has allocated €4 million to 21 projects, 16 of which are being backed for three years.

The endowment fund acts as a 'sounding board' for NGOs, researchers and small associations, providing non-financial performance through thematic workshops and capacity-building programmes.

During the awards eligibility period, Mirova Foundation launched a roadmap refocusing its priorities on education and skills development, employment, and access to essential resources.

In the next year, it plans to create a mentorship programme to pair grant recipients with Mirova professionals to provide support and guidance from within its network and regularly publish activity reports to foster accountability and encourage stakeholder engagement.

Philippe Zaouati, founder and chief executive officer of Mirova, has been named Personality of the year in this year's IMPACT Investment Awards
