Acting as both an investor and end-to-end developer of carbon projects, the UK specialist investment firm Tramontana expanded into the financing of physical gas, Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs), and Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates (RTFCs) over the last year.

Having acquired the necessary licenses from regulators to offer these options to its clients, Tramontana also looked to enhance security around assets in its platform.

Tramontana reported significant interest in 2024 from new clients in the power and gas markets. It argues that the goals of net zero and energy security drove this strong demand for energy transition financing opportunities.

As an end-to-end developer of carbon projects for corporate clients, last year it developed clean cooking and agroforestry projects in Asia, specifically across Sri Lanka and multiple states in India, as it grew this side of its business to more than 90 full-time staff.

One Sustainable Investment Awards judge complimented its "clear description of how the company has innovated to deliver positive sustainability outcomes".
