Iceberg Data Lab (IDL) has continued to expand its capabilities throughout the year.
Its newly launched sovereign climate and biodiversity data set assesses the impact of 120 countries and their progress towards the goals of the Paris Agreement.
This revealed that global efforts are "insufficient" and unequal, with European countries making headway against sharp emission increases from India and China.
Across the year, IDL has also released two deforestation tools. This includes a product assessing the deforestation risk for 3,500 listed companies involved in raw material production, as well as a tool to identify the financial impact of deforestation.
Previously an area of limited information, this "cutting edge" tool aims to provide asset managers, asset owners, and banks with the necessary data to inform financial decision-making, establish exclusion list,s and drive engagement efforts.
IDL's close collaboration with academia was welcomed by award judges who praised its "innovative biodiversity analysis".
