In 2024, BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) launched a new range of ESG-enhanced equity ETFs. Unlike traditional active ETFs, they track benchmark returns while applying an active ESG methodology, which includes ESG exclusions, sustainable investment thresholds, and active stewardship practices.
“This innovation makes it possible for all types of clients to benefit from the properties of an ETF, namely transparency, accessibility, liquidity, and lower costs,” writes BNPP AM in its awards submission.
The four new funds – focused on the US, Japan, Europe, and World markets – are classified as SFDR Article 8 funds and follow criteria set out in the French ISR (Investissement Socialement Responsable) label and the Belgian Towards Sustainability label.
BNPP AM says 91% of its ETF range are classified as SFDR Article 8 or 9, and the asset manager was among the first to list ETFs with an active ESG approach on Euronext Paris.
