Mercer has reaffirmed its position as a leader in sustainable investment (SI) consulting, by winning the award for Investment consultant of the year for the fifth year in a row.

With over 100 ESG and SI specialists across its global investment platform, in 2024, Mercer integrated Cardano's 30 SI professionals in the aftermath of its acquisition of the UK fiduciary manager and advisory firm.

Also in 2024, Mercer released its SI Playbook, which provides guidance for investors. The playbook introduces SI Personas, which the consultant says provide flexibility in addressing "client-specific objectives while capturing evolving regulatory perspectives and reporting requirements". Mercer also developed a new SI Training Module for its staff.

Other improvements to its offerings include changes to the decarbonisation attribution analysis offering of Mercer's ACT Dashboard, its digital platform that supports asset owner climate-related disclosures, reporting, and transition planning. Mercer also extended the geographical scope of its Global Responsible Investment Total Evaluation (RITE), which helps clients show how they are progressing relative to their peers.

In 2024, it also partnered with British International Investment (BII), the UK's development finance institution and impact investor, to help scale climate finance in emerging markets and developing economies.
