Sustainable Investment Awards 2025

Private debt manager of the year: Newmarket Capital

Newmarket Capital secured several key deals over the year to win the Private debt manager of the year award.

Among these were several new deals from its International Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFC) IV fund. These investments expanded Newmarket's underlying assets to include more countries and sectors.

Renewable energy remains the largest sector exposure of the fund, reflecting Newmarket's goal of expanding green-lending exposure over time. The fund has taken exposure to more than $50 billion in lending to renewable energy projects and other sectors like public mass transport, water & sanitation and affordable housing.

As the bilateral investor on multilateral bank IDB Invest's Scaling4Impact securitisation, Newmarket assumed mezzanine tranche losses on a $1 billion portfolio, creating $500 million of new lending capacity for IDB Invest.

The securitisation aims to deploy capital to high-impact, socially and environmentally critical areas, facilitating millions of dollars in new development lending in a historically underfunded region. IDB Invest is mandated to promote development and strengthen private enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean.
