With environmental sustainability at its core, the asset manager has progressed both its private and public markets offerings in the last year, including the launch of a Europe-focused small-cap strategy and three new platform investments.
It also closed a €500 million ($579 million) continuation vehicle in December 2024 for its investment in Wateralia, a water pumps business. It was one of the 'largest' continuation funds to be classified as Article 9 under the EU's Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) at the time.
A continuation fund is a private equity secondary market vehicle designed to extend the holding period of assets from an existing fund that is nearing its termination date.
After a five-year-long holding period, in March 2025, Ambienta divested private equity investment Namirial, a software-as-a-service solution for document-centric transactions and digitalised business processes, for €1.1 billion.
Ambienta uses its proprietary Environmental Impact Analysis tool for measuring the environmental impact of its private equity portfolio, which tracks several resource efficiency and pollution control indicators.
The asset manager, which manages assets totalling more than €4 billion, says it invests in companies that optimise resource efficiency and reduce waste.
