Brief description of the data offering
D&B Climate Risk Insights combines physical climate risk data gathered from geo-spatial satellite imagery and climate models– along with global-leading firmographics and financial characteristics from Dun & Bradstreet, providing future-ready visibility needed for predicting climate-related risks and calculating the probability of recovery to foster more resilient business relationships.
Climate Risk Insights covers more than 250 million business locations across four time horizons (historical baseline average, current monthly risk, short-term forecasted risk, and two long-term SSP/RCP climate risk scenarios for up to nine perils (flood, wildfires, drought, hurricanes/typhoons, extreme temperatures, wind, precipitation, and sea level rise). Additional datasets covering biodiversity, water stress (for TNFD), and other earth hazards are available as an add-on to the solution.
Dun & Bradstreet provides the most robust source of corporate linkage data coupled with climate risk data, financial, and firmographic insights to help clients understand the impact of a business partner’s branch, subsidiary, or headquarters encountering climate-related disruptions.
D&B Climate Risk Insights include Climate Exposure Index scores that combine climate data with financial, firmographic, corporate linkage, business risk, property & building characteristics, and other critical Dun & Bradstreet insights, to calculate an entity’s risk of encountering a climate-related disruption and its probability of being significantly impaired.
D&B Climate Exposure Indices incorporate key risk insights and predictive scores from Dun & Bradstreet into their calculation, such as financial risk and D&B Country Insights which includes critical risk data on each country's credit, supply, market, and political environments. This robust composition of data provides you with one score that takes into account multiple lenses of risk.
D&B Climate Exposure Indices incorporate data on the materials of the building structure, property characteristics, and height above ground into their methodology to give you a uniquely targeted risk score. This deep insight helps to uncover instances where certain businesses may remain more resilient, or more at risk of a peril based on how their property or structure is built.
Where and how do you source your data?
We source climate and biodiversity data from our partner "Climate Engine", an Earth Finance company, who utilizes frequent geo-spatial satellite imagery along with climate and machine learning models to calculate risk scores. This data is combined with Dun & Bradstreet's leading financial and firmographics data on more than 250 million active global business locations and their headquarters to deliver a comprehensive climate risks & business impacts solution.
Our data passes through thousands of rigorous checks to meet our exceedingly high standards. Only data that meets these quality checks is accepted into the Dun & Bradstreet Data Cloud - our single source of data truth. At our core is our Live Business Identity, through the Dun & Bradstreet D‑U‑N‑S® Number, offering the most up-to-date view of any business entity throughout their entire lifecycle.
