Listed equityBrief description of the data offering
Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience in stewardship and sustainability governance, Minerva helps investors assess companies through a granular understanding of the issues most likely to affect long-term value creation, risk, and oversight. Our analysis spans environmental, social, governance, remuneration, voting, climate, and controversy data, enabling clients to embed ESG intelligence directly into investment analysis, proxy voting, engagement programmes, portfolio oversight, and client reporting.
The strength of Minerva’s offering lies in the depth, quality, and independence of its research. Companies are evaluated against more than 1,000 indicators to identify the most significant ESG issues, areas of exposure, and gaps in management. This analysis is grounded in high-quality public disclosures and enhanced through detailed desk research, partner insights, and recognised frameworks including TPI, IFRS S2, and TCFD. As a result, clients gain insight not only into whether a company meets headline ESG expectations, but also how effectively it is governed, where risks may be emerging, and where stewardship action may be required.
Our ESG datasets cover sustainability governance, controversial business activities, climate change, and ESG controversies. This includes analysis of how companies manage financially material sustainability issues such as climate strategy, health and safety, board competence, and reporting quality; whether they are managing carbon emissions through Paris-aligned targets; and whether they are exposed to controversial sectors or involved in breaches of UN Global Compact norms with material ESG impacts.
The underlying dataset includes product exposure data across areas such as alcohol, adult entertainment, controversial and conventional weapons, farm animal welfare, fossil fuels, gambling, recreational cannabis, and tobacco. It also includes ESG and climate indicators covering bribery and corruption, climate risk, environmental damage, greenhouse gas emissions, human rights, labour rights, SDG integration, and other ethical controversies, alongside Minerva’s proprietary Governance, Remuneration, and Sustainability ratings.
For clients, this means more than broad coverage: it means insight that is credible, practical, and easy to use. Minerva’s ESG data can be integrated into existing systems through seamless data feeds, helping firms generate tailored insights aligned with their own investment philosophies, stewardship priorities, and reporting needs. This supports a more evidence-based approach to responsible investment, enabling clients to identify governance weaknesses, monitor executive pay, analyse voting history, assess controversy exposure, and evaluate portfolio alignment with sustainability goals, regulatory expectations, and internal policies.
In a market where many providers focus on broad ratings alone, Minerva offers a more specialist proposition - high-quality ESG and governance data built around real investor workflows and designed to improve the quality of both decision-making and stewardship outcomes.
