Fixed incomeBrief description of the data offering
Carbon4 Finance provides a comprehensive data solution designed to assess the climate credibility and transition alignment of more than 10,530 Climate Bonds worldwide. The offering is built upon a dual-rating framework scored on a 1-to-15 scale, which is fully aligned with the European Green Bond Standards (EuGB). It consolidates two levels of analysis:
- Project Rating: Evaluates the positive environmental impact of the financed projects.
- Issuer Rating: Assesses the issuer's overall transition performance, long-term climate strategy, and alignment with a low-carbon trajectory.
Additionally, the dataset includes a Carbon Impact Ratio (CIR) for each project, allowing users to benchmark a project's climate impact against its peers (a higher CIR indicating a stronger contribution to climate mitigation).
The offering initially focuses on the three largest and most robust use-of-proceeds categories: Energy, Buildings, and Transport.
Where and how do you source your data?
Carbon4 Finance sources its foundational data directly from the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), selected for its market credibility, methodological consistency with the Paris Agreement objectives, and alignment with Carbon4 Finance’s existing Climate Impact Analytics (CIA) framework.
To ensure high data quality and eliminate greenwashing risks, Carbon4 Finance applies a strict filtering and processing method:
Eligibility Filter: Only green bonds that successfully meet the CBI alignment criteria are included in the dataset.
Parametric Framework: Carbon4 Finance processes this data using a proprietary parametric methodology. This data-driven, scalable approach allows for more frequent updates and granular analysis at both the individual project level and the issuer level, while guaranteeing full alignment with European regulatory standards and the CBI taxonomy.
