Brief description of the data offering
CDP’s Water Security Dataset provides comprehensive quantitative and qualitative data on corporate water-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities. The dataset is built from directly reported, board-signed disclosures collected through CDP’s global Water Security questionnaire, with sector-specific modules reflecting differing water risk profiles. The dataset includes data from thousands of companies on plastics too.
The dataset captures a wide range of water-related indicators, including:
Water-related risk exposure (physical, regulatory and reputational risks and how they are identified and managed)
Compliance issues and detrimental impacts (including incidents related to water stress, flooding, drought or pollution)
Financial impacts of water risk (reported potential and realised financial implications)
Governance and oversight (including board- and management-level responsibility for water risks and opportunities)
Integration with climate analysis (including water-related implications of climate scenario analysis and resilience planning)
Targets and performance (including water efficiency and stewardship goals)
Volumetric water data such as withdrawals, discharges and consumption across operations and value chains.
