Brief description of the data offering

Using FairSupply’s Species extinction-risk module, customers can map their impact on species extinction risk along  their supply chains, all the way to Tier 10. This capability is made possible by integrating a pioneering extinction-risk metric – nSTAR – generated using data curated in the IUCN Red List – into FairSupply’s best-in-class Integrated Assessment Engine.

Understanding an organisation’s supply chain is the key to working out its indirect impact on biodiversity. The impacts of some of these supply chains may be relatively easy to quantify, particularly when connected to well-tracked commodities such as soy, coffee, and cocoa. However, as significant as these commodity supply chains are, they are usually not the only supply chains which support an organisation’s operations.

All it takes to generate an extinction-risk footprint and identify the countries and industry sectors impacted by your supply chains is information on your organisation’s expenditure patterns – our Integrated Assessment Engine does the rest.

Where and how do you source your data?

FairSupply’s proprietary supply chain assessment methodology covers more than 1.6 billion monetary transaction nodes globally, allowing unprecedented visibility of the global supply chains which support operations and investment portfolio companies.

We source data relating to monetary transactions across the global economy from the national statistics agencies across the world. We’ve connected this supply chain data to information on species extinction risk, and the threats acting on species, curated in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, to calculate an extinction-risk footprint.

What is the cost for your data offering?

Most of FairSupply’s customers pay around AUD $30,000 for an annual subscription per dataset. Prices are volume-based.

What are the key attributes that differentiates the data you offer?

FairSupply provides whole of supply chain ESG risk visibility and is the first provider to adopt the extinction risk of species as a quantifiable representation of biodiversity loss. Our data covers approximately 98% of global GDP making it possible to assess almost any company.
