Moody’s takes a multi-channel approach to sourcing data. Moody’s physical climate risk data integrates data from Moody's RMS detailed catastrophe models and the best available climate change science. Moody's RMS models – developed over the past 30 years – today support risk decisions for the US$2.5 trillion re/insurance global market, and provide analysis of the expected damage from complex perils.
Moody’s climate change models and datasets use the best available climate change science, including Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports, Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) climate models, Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) data and additional inputs from scientific literature.
