Brief description of the data offering

Resource Watch is an open data visualization platform from the World Resources Institute that hosts over 300 trusted and timely data sets covering from climate change to poverty, water risk to state instability, air pollution to human migration, and more.

Resource Watch includes a wide range of environmental and socioeconomic data allowing the user to discover and overlay data on different topics, enabling crossed analysis on related topics.

Resource Watch hosts and visualizes both data updated annually and near real-time data across topics, allowing users to explore specific areas or intersectional issues such as emissions and air quality.

The platform hoststhematic dashboards that provide insights on several topics, including Ocean Watch, which provides the data and information policymakers need to make better-informed decisions about sustainable ocean management. Where and how do you source your data?

The data on Resource Watch comes from various sources, including governments, intergovernmental organizations, research institutions, and scientific publications. Resource Watch has a rigorous data collection process, guided by WRI’s independent, nonpartisan experts. Data on Resource Watch must come from established sources and be peer-reviewed or based on a transparent established methodology. What is the cost for your data offering?

No cost. Resource Watch data are free and open to use for any user’s analysis as long as use complies with the licensing and restrictions of the source data providers. Users can access links to download data and find information on the licensing of the data from the data set detail pages.
