Brief description of the data offering

Space Intelligence is a world-leading provider of nature data, using satellite data analytics, artificial intelligence and forest ecology to help stop deforestation and environmental degradation. We provide high quality, accurate maps of habitat, forest canopy cover and carbon stock through time. In addition, our nature-based insights platform can be used to identify environmental impact indicators (e.g., biodiversity hotspots and intactness, protected areas, deforestation intensity and landcover change) surrounding areas of interest. We utilise this expertise to support financial institutions and corporations with disclosure and reporting of nature impacts in-line with guidelines like the TNFD. We create these maps using the unique combination of our strong scientific heritage in mapping ecosystems (and carbon therein), alongside our efficient, proven cloud-based system.

Where and how do you source your data?

We source our satellite data from various national and commercial providers, for example from the European Space Agency (ESA), NASA, and the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). There are two main types of satellite sensors that we typically use: optical sensors and radar sensors. These satellite datasets, combined with our in house ecological knowledge, are processed through our artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to produce our datasets on habitat, canopy cover and carbon stock. We also use other open source datasets that we enhance via post-processing, to show environmental insights for reporting and disclosure.

What is the cost for your data offering?

Our costing is tailored to client needs, with indicative pricing per project size and number of maps ordered. Our service models fall under two categories: (1) on a project-by-project basis with an upfront cost, or (2) a subscription, where the client can pay in monthly or quarterly instalments over the lifetime of the project or portfolio of projects, typically for annual monitoring.
