Brief description of the data offering

Powered by Util’s proprietary Evidence Engine, SDG Impact provides detailed, evidence-based impact metrics for 50,000 Public Companies across the 17 UN SDGs that can be accessed through an intuitive portal and/or popular data marketplaces. This successful first offering from Util has drawn interest from PGIM, Danske Bank, and Degroof Petercam, among others, leveraging the data for client reporting, fulfilling regulatory requirements, and constructing portfolios that deliver on sustainability goals without sacrificing performance.

SDG Impact for Public Companies allows investors, certifying bodies and other users to easily access Util’s evidence-driven impact data for over 50,000 Public companies through the lens of the UN-SDGs so that they meet growing sustainability demands by evaluating and tracking the impact at the company level.

Benefits:

  • Identify and evaluate unseen impact risks, and unrealised product and company value
  • Make decisions with objective data based on evidence (traceable to the source) to enhance investment validity and avoid greenwashing

  • Explore company/fund impact on the SDGs with breakdown of holdings driving positive and negative impacts and contextualise performance relative to peers by sector, industry and geography

  • Discover sustainable companies, build thematic portfolios, minimise concentration risk

Where and how do you source your data?

Util is the only data provider that uses artificial intelligence to gather sustainability evidence at scale. Companies are measured by their products: a reliable, available, objective metric. We apply natural language processing to 120 million academic texts to identify relationships between 7,000 products and services and 2,000 sustainability concepts in our proprietary framework.

With SDG Impact for Public Companies, Util’s sustainability concepts are linked to the SDGs, and products are aggregated to a revenue- and geographically- adjusted company level. The result is an objective and reliable measure of any company’s impact on the SDGs, based on its makeup of products, weighted for the region in which they’re sold.

We cover every listed company—50,000—uniformly, across size, sector and geography, and against every sustainability concept.

What is the cost for your data offering?

SDG for Public Companies is $20,000. Our data will be available through:

CRUX, Snowflake, MyDataOutlet in mid-2023.
