Brief description of the data offering

Discover and quantify hidden impact risk and unseen value with customized, evidence-based impact data that enables analysis across a broad range of asset classes and sustainability frameworks.

Powered by Util’s proprietary Evidence Engine, Universal Impact expands Util’s evidence-driven insights to cover more asset classes and sustainability frameworks, allowing for deeper and more customized analysis that can be used by a broader audience (i.e. procurement, supply chain, quant funds, large asset managers) to support more sophisticated and flexible analysis.

  • Identify and evaluate unseen impact risks, and unrealised product and company value

  • Make decisions with objective data based on evidence (traceable to the source) to enhance investment validity and avoid greenwashing

  • Explore company/fund impact on any sustainability framework (including client-defined) with breakdown of holdings driving positive and negative impacts and contextualise performance relative to peers by sector, industry and geography

  • Discover sustainable companies, build thematic portfolios, minimise concentration risk

Where and how do you source your data?

Util is the only data provider that uses artificial intelligence to gather sustainability evidence at scale. Companies are measured by their products: a reliable, available, objective metric. We apply natural language processing to 120 million academic texts to identify relationships between 7,000 products and services and any sustainability concept or framework (including client- defined).

Our proprietary Evidence Engine maps a company’s products to sustainability concepts using peer-reviewed academic research as evidence. The result is an objective data set that shows, with evidence, a company's positive and negative impact to the world.

Unlike some traditional ESG data providers that base their scores on subjective or company-reported disclosures, Util bases its evaluations on objective research and quantifiable evidence, shedding light on how a company affects society and the environment at the product level, yielding deeper insights into company exposure.

What is the cost for your data offering?
