Brief description of the data offering

The Climate Bonds Green Bond Database is a comprehensive list of all labelled bonds with proceeds going to green categories issued since 2007. It is global and includes all currencies, jurisdictions and instrument sizes. The Climate Bonds Initiative collects, assesses and provides high quality green bond data to a broad range of global market players such as indices, regulators, stock exchanges, asset managers and asset owners.

The data is available to partners through our Partnership Programme, with three partnership levels available. We deliver the latest issuance data to our partners on a weekly and monthly basis either via our Partner Portal, email or SFTP, depending on the partnership level and the partner’s preference.

Where and how do you source your data?

The Climate Bonds Green Bond Database screening process involves a three-step approach to determine the eligibility of bonds. Firstly, the process requires the identification of climate-themed, self-labelled debt instruments. Secondly, the screening involves assessing the sectors and green credentials associated with the bond to ensure that the proceeds will be used to finance expenses, assets, projects, and/or activities that align with the definitions outlined in the Green Bond Methodology. These definitions are derived from the Climate Bonds Taxonomy and Sector Criteria. Lastly, the evaluation involves determining if the bond's net proceeds will be fully allocated to green assets, projects, or activities. Only bonds meeting this criterion are included in the Climate Bonds Initiative Green Bond Database.
